It's summer again, and that means lots of outdoor time. Hiking and camping are some of the most fun activities you can do outside; but how do you take your hookah with you on such a trip? Is it possible to go camping or hiking with a hookah pipe? The answer: of course! All it takes it some preparation and the right setup, and you'll be enjoying your favorite shisha under the stars or on the trail (just remember to be safe!).
Camping Hookah Setup
The first thing you'll need to make a hookah camping trip is a good outdoor hookah setup. A smaller hookah will work best for obvious reasons. There are plenty of dimunitive hookahs that smoke just as well as their larger cousins, such as the Furat or Mya Bambino. These hookahs are small, hardy, stable, and make reliable options for your hookah hiking adventure.
Try using a simple washable hose, since the outdoors can be messy. Washable hoses are actually pretty durable, and since anything can happen when you're camping, it's probably not wise to bring a fancy, expensive (and heavy) hose along on your trip.
You'll also want to bring the right accessories to ensure that your outdoor session goes smoothly. Quicklight coals, while not as clean as natural coals, will be a better choice for hiking and camping, as they can be lit much more quickly and easily in a traveling or outdoor scenario, using nothing more than tongs and a lighter. A wind cover is also desirable, for several reasons. It can get windy outside, and knocking your coals over is messy and can be dangerous outside; a wind cover helps take care of these things.
Your hookah camping gear is rounded out by tongs, foil (or metal screen, to prevent trash), a lighter, and bottled water - fresh, clean water can be hard to come by on a backpacking trip. A carrying case, while not completely necessary, can be helpful in many hiking or camping situations, and some travel-sized hookahs already come in their own cases.
Outdoor Hookah Safety
Remember: it's important to take precautions when you're smoking your hookah outside, especially on a camping or hiking trip, since you'll probably be surrounded by grass and trees that can easily catch fire. Make sure the area where you're camping doesn't have an active burn ban and have plenty of water to help put out your coals. Always make sure your coals are completely extinguished when you're finished smoking - be responsible and be safe.
Hookah tobacco comes in a lot of sweet flavors, which can attract bugs or much larger animals, so if you're camping be sure to hide your shisha away where various forest denizens can't get to them. Try using a sealed shisha storage container for extra security against animals and the elements.
|If you've decided to bring your hookah along on a summer outdoor adventure, or even if you're just relaxing on your porch on a sunny day, chances are you'll want a great summertime shisha flavor to make the most of the experience. Here are some great shisha flavors to try when you're sitting around that crackling campfire.|
Campfire Shisha Flavors
S'Mores Mix - It's not a camping trip without a healthy meal of campfire-roasted marshmallows and chocolate between two graham crackers. This recipe actually tastes a lot like the real thing. Just mix 50% Romman Chocolate, 20% Romman Vanilla, 20% Romman Cinnamon, and 10% Fumari Spiced Chai. Save a pinch of the Vanilla until the end, then sprinkle it over the top of the bowl to help diffuse some of the sweetness. Boom! The classic campfire delicacy is right there in your hookah.
Haze Cucumberita - Nothing says summertime like a refreshing cucumber margarita, so why not get a bowl of Haze's Cucumberita going to quench your shisha thirst.
Tangiers Jamaica is one of the newest offerings from Tangiers. Part of their original noir line, Jamaica is a sweet and floral hibiscus tea flavor with just a dash of tartness that will taste even better on a hot summer night.
Starbuzz Lebanese Bombshell is a very unique and interesting flavor that puts a twist on the idea of summertime shisha flavors. Strong, smoky, and woody, Lebanese Bombshell is as close as you can get to tasting a campfire.
Outdoor adventures are a lot of fun, and a nice, relaxing hookah session is easy to do and can make your adventure even better!
