It's a beautiful day outside but you have a hankering for some serious shisha time. What to do? Take that hookah session outside silly. We know it can seem like a bit of a daunting task at first and it definitely requires a bit of pre-planning, but with the right tools you can have a fantastic hookah smoking session in the great outdoors.
Where Should I Smoke?
The first step is picking out a proper smoking location. We love smoking at the beach, at a park, or just in a backyard. Some intrepid smokers have taken their hookahs all the way to the top of mountains! Be sure to check if your city has any sort of regulations against smoking in public parks before you plan your trip.
What Outdoor Hookah Supplies Do I Need?
In order to have a successfull outdoor hookah session, you will need to remember your Scout motto of "Be Prepared". All of the following items are necessary to ensure a great outdoor smoke.
- Hookah Pipe (more on this later)

- Quick Light Hookah Charcoal

What's The Best Hookah For Smoking Outside?
Technically, you could smoke with any hookah outside, but generally there will be a lack of a perfectly flat and stable surface for your hookah to rest on, so we recommend a small hookah with a wide footprint for maximum stability. A 32" tall KM is a great hookah when it is sitting on your coffee table but it's a big pain to travel with. Below are 3 solid options that fit the bill quite well.
Tips For A Great Outdoor Hookah Smoking Session
Once you have everything together for your hookah smoking adventure all that's left is applying a few helpful tips to ensure that your journey is enjoyable and not just a pain in the butt.
First up, make sure you bring the bottled water. Water is abundant but if you are going somewhere remote, it might not be that easy to find clean water to use. Make sure not to use water from a natural body of water in order to keep you are your hookah happy and healthy.
The second tip is to ALWAYS use a wind cover. Most of us use windcovers indoors to prevent accidents and to make your coals last longer. When you are outside the wind cover is VITAL to a good session as you will actually be dealing with wind which can blow coals off of your bowl, or just stoke them too much which will burn your shisha.
The third tip is to spend as much time as necessary ensuring your hookah is secured and will not tip over. If you are at the beach, bury the bottom 1/2 -1/3 of the base in sand and if you are at a park, find the flattest ground possible, or maybe surround the base with medium sized stones. Anything you can do to prevent your hookah from tipping or spilling is huge.
Finally, when you are done, make sure all of your hookah coals are COMPLETELY extinguished. The last thing you want to do is leave hot coals somewhere that could start a fire or burn someone.
That's it! Follow these simple steps and you will be enjoying a wonderful shisha session with the sun shining on your face in no time.
